COMMUNITY

Palmer’s Market seeks to fulfill the needs of our local schools, non-profits, churches and businesses alike.  We donate food on a weekly basis to Person-to-Person, as well as public schools, local fire departments, Darien/ Norwalk YWCA, National Veterans. Whether we are donating food for an event or contributing a unique silent auction item, Palmer’s Darien does its best to help the community around us thrive.

• Use of LED light bulbs throughout store
• Recycling packing peanuts to local “pack & ship” store
• Installed new energy efficient refrigeration control systems
• Updated fan motors in refrigerator cases
• Night shades installed on refrigerated cases
• Environmental packaging in kitchen
• Committed to recycling all paper, cardboard, plastic and glass
• Recycle all waste oils from the kitchen
• Recycle all food service containers (plastic, metal and glass)
• Water cooler in office for employees
• Drop off point to recycle plastic bags
• Recycle 300 tons of cardboard and paper
• Reduce printed paper by digitizing menus, office memos, etc…
• Eliminate use of Styrofoam cups
• Recycle packing in prepared foods, deli and bakery departments
• Donate excess product to local charities
• Reuse bubble wrap
• Recycle catalogs, cardboard and paper
• Expanded eco-friendly products (bamboo clothing, plates, etc…)
• Reusable bags for 99¢ (at our cost)
• Provide our employees with reusable drink tumblers
